We broke camp at Wave Organ Cove and headed around the last point. Our kayaking trip was almost over and I felt desperate to get some rock gardening in. I hugged the shore and went behind the few offshore rocks in our path. Some of these rocks were covered with pelicans and they let us get close enough for some good photographs.
Rounding the final rock of the point we saw Ensenada Blanca, the three kilometer long white sandy beach in front of the resort. While eating lunch here the day we shuttled our cars down, we had watched the locals drive pongas, motor boats, up onto the sand. They would start out to sea a short way and turn towards shore at full speed. Just as the boat hit the steep sandy beach they would cut the outboard engine and swing it up out of the way. The boat would slide up the beach throwing a wake of sand and come to a stop high and dry. It looked like a wild ride! We watched a little girl in a float get blown away by a rising wind and then rescued by one of the pongas. When it plowed up the beach with her aboard we commented that the little girl had definitely gotten an E-ticket ride!
As we made our landing on the last day of our trip the boats were already in for the afternoon. We looked into renting a little cottage for the evening, but decided to camp on the beach. The resort did have showers with hot water! Our cars were still there in good condition so we drove them down close to the beach. I finally found a use for the four wheel drive in my new used truck: It allowed me to park my car closer to the gear on the beach than anybody else! We started loading our gear into the cars and the kayaks on top. The next morning we would finish packing and start the long drive home.
