San Diego to Home Again, January 1st 2002.

In the morning we picked up Albert Wang, who had not managed to rent out his town house yet but wanted a ride home to the Bay Area. I moved half of my gear up inside my kayak to make room to raise one of the back seats. Albert had is laptop computer and cell phone with him and was able to check his email while we were driving north! A bit heady for John and I who were not quite de-compressed enough to return to civilization yet. We dropped Albert off at a BART station in Castro Valley in the East Bay. Then I dropped John and all his gear off in the South Bay. John and I went out to a restaurant in his neighborhood and by the time we finished eating it was 10:00 at night. Plenty of time for me to drive home before midnight. I had to be at work the next morning. It would be a week or more before all the camping gear was removed from my truck, cleaned and put away.
